Teaching Philosophy

Today students have access to all the information they would ever need in the palm of their hands. It is more important than ever for teachers to be able to help students understand the relevant issues of our times and the significance for how we live. As a biology teacher, I would design my curriculum such that students are confronted with these issues in a way that both helps them learn core biological principles, but also demonstrates the relevancy of biology for our everyday lives. When students are aware of these issues and they understand their biological underpinnings, they will be well-prepared to promote and contribute to change in our society.
